In the beginning, college was affiliated to Bihar University and later to TilkaManjhi Bhagalpur University.It the beginning time college have only Arts Faculty and in 1968 college started science faculty with Biology.
Late GopeshwarPd Singh was the first secretary of B.N.M College and Late Mahesh Pd Singh,Ex. Agriculture Minister Bihar Govt. was first chair person of the college.Late on LalaBabu and a few other social works was in governing body of the college.After crossing several hurdles,they achieved the goal and made their dream true by establishing a college in rural area.In 1962 college was shifted in his own building. New building was situated on the bank of Ganga River. Now B.N.M. College Barhiya is running in 4 Acre compound with 2500 SqMtr Built Area.
